All OLLI instructors volunteer their time because of their passion for a topic. Our desire is for instructors to offer content that is educational in nature and create an environment that encourages involvement, is accepting of differing opinions and offers opportunities for open and sincere discussions. Formal teaching experience is not necessary. Instructors must follow all Penn State and OLLI policies, including:
- Courses do NOT include tests, require prerequisites, or require the purchase of textbooks.
- If using outside sources or research, document those used in the presentation.
- If extra assistance with technology is required, notify the OLLI office prior to the course.
- Instructors provide education and enlightenment. Promotion or solicitation of any products or services is prohibited.
Instructors are responsible for developing their own course content. The information, views, and opinions provided by OLLI at Penn State York instructors are those of the instructor and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the OLLI at Penn State York organization.
If you are interested in becoming an instructor, or know someone who is, click and complete this Course Proposal Form, or you can call the office to request one. Once proposals are submitted, the Curriculum Committee will review the proposal. If approved, the committee will schedule your course at a time that works best for you. If you submit a proposal for the fall semester, the Curriculum Committee will reach out in April. If you submit a proposal for the spring semester, the Curriculum Committee will reach out in October. Please note that the Curriculum Committee works about nine to twelve months in advance.
